The Business Mentoring Alliance is a collaboration between the Delaware Mentoring Council (DMC) and the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce (DSCC).

About the Business Mentoring Alliance

The DMC has partnered with the DSCC in support of its mission to provide a mentor for every youth in Delaware who needs one. Since its establishment, the DMC has had the broad support and participation of the business community. In 2003, the DSCC and the DMC partnered to form the Business Mentoring Task Force to explore ways to increase involvement of businesses in the mentoring initiative by increasing recruitment, advocacy and support for mentoring programs across the state. In July 2006, the Business Mentoring Task Force became the Business Mentoring Alliance to continue its mission of developing and implementing strategies to increase and sustain business community involvement in one-to-one mentoring of Delaware's youth.

Employee-Based Mentoring

How can businesses make a difference?

Many companies in Delaware have already stepped up to the plate with mentoring. They recognize the valuable resources they have to offer as employers, and they make the effort to share those resources with their community. So, why should a company become involved in mentoring? Because involvement will benefit their community's youth, their employees and even their own bottom line.

How does the DMC help businesses?

The DMC will guide your business through a step-by-step process, determining your program needs and creating the most effective mentoring program for your employees. The DMC offers the following services free of charge:

  1. Assistance in determining which mentoring program is best for your company
  2. Facilitating the match between your company and the mentoring organization
  3. Recruitment sessions at interested companies
  4. Free training for all new mentors
  5. Ongoing support, ideas on how to build your program, evaluation tools, and any technical assistance your company needs
  6. Assistance in positioning your company as a leader in the community through public relations and marketing
