Provider Organizations
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Delaware
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware (BBBSDE) provides a caring adult for at-risk youth. Matches are carefully administered by the staff and school personnel and can be a combination of academic and social support. Mentors who desire to see their mentee out of the school environment have the option of registering for the BBBSDE Bridges Program. In-school matches are monitored by a social worker assigned to the school by BBBSDE. To learn more about BBBSDE visit www.bbbsde.org.
Creative Mentoring
Creative Mentoring partners with and supports in-school mentoring programs in over 80 elementary and middle schools throughout the state. Based on a child-centered, child-driven approach to mentoring, Creative Mentors help children build self-esteem, self-confidence, social values, and aspirations as well as help with school work.
In addition to supporting its own partner programs, Creative Mentoring place a strong emphasis on mentor training and offers free half-day training classes for any adult volunteer who wishes to mentor in either elementary or middle schools, regardless of program affiliation.

HOSTS
HOSTS (Helping One Student to Succeed) provides students with a tutor in a specific subject area where they may need assistance. The student may have more than one mentor visit them each week, depending on the subjects in which he or she needs help and the degree in which he or she needs help. Programs are monitored by HOSTS coordinators in the school and the program is academically oriented. To learn more about HOSTS visit www.hosts.org.
Independent Mentoring Programs
Independent mentoring programs are not associated with an outside mentoring provider (such as BBBSDE, HOSTS or Creative Mentoring). Programs are typically run by the school guidance counselor or other type of school personnel. Independent Programs that adhere to the 10 Basic Standards for effective mentoring programs as established by DMC are designated Partner Programs.
